Let's stop talking about Confidence.
Just cultivate it and nurture it daily.
Remember these 3 words.
CERTAINTY. CONSISTENCY. CONGRUENCY.
If you are certain about something. Talk about that. Start there. What are YOU certain about?
I'm not a funny speaker.
I hate trying to be funny.
I used to ignore the need for humour in speaking. I thought “I'm an inspirational speaker. I'm a motivational speaker. I'm NOT a humorous speaker.”
A big shout out goes to Steve Harvey for changing my mindset. I once heard him say that humour is a gift. He added that when you make people laugh, their minds open and they will be more receptive to any message that you deliver.
A wonderful lady came up to me the other day. We have known each other for awhile, and she came up to me with the regular, nonchalant “How are you?”
We were at a Toastmasters event, therefore I gave her a “Speaker's Answer”. I told her that I am still speaking, at my club, other clubs, and for outside events. Then the discussion invariably went to my policing case, and the fact that though I was charged 5 years ago, I am still involved in the turmoil, awaiting my appeal, but still pushing through as a speaker.
